When not working, I can be found: At home enjoying time with my wife and 21 yr old son.

Favorite Food: BEEF!!

Number of TV's in my house: Two

Best answered prayer: To bring home from the hospital after 15 weeks, our daughter November, for Christmas in 1987.

My passion for being in this ministorial position: For me to be honored with the postion of elder here is taken with humility and a great sense of duty to pray for and listen for God's direction for my family that is Calvert Park. I know that I am called to serve this family.

Current testimony: In mid-July my father-in-law was rushed to the hospital in Kentucky and the call for the family to come make thier last visit was made. Berta, my wife, and I made the drive down with deep concern and heavy hearts. But with short prayers and long praises for his life, the drive seemed short for 9 hours. Berta's dad wanted to attend a wedding in September, Berta didn't want him to die yet. I don't know everyone's prayers, but he (Bill) attended the wedding and even though his kidneys have failed and the doctors don't know why he has not died, I know God Almighty answers prayer!! Thank you and Amen.

Myra Piper - Elder

When not working, I can be found: In the summer you will find me working in my flower beds or sitting on the deck enjoying a good book. I enjoy doing crafts, antiquing, and refinishing an old piece of furniture. It is rewarding to restore something that has been neglected. What gives me the greatest pleasure is to spend time with family and friends.

Favorite Food: I have become a fan of soups and salads. Unfortunately, chocolate of any sort, also has a real stong pull!

Best answered prayer: The thing that I am constantly in awe of is the way God blesses me daily by meeting my needs and preparing the way before me. What a priviledge to live in a country where we can openly and freely acknowledge God as Lord and Savior.

My passion for being in this ministorial position: I have a strong desire to serve God in a way that I can also serve others. My desire is that my talents, abilities, and gifts be used, as God would direct, to nurture, encourage, support, and assist others. The driving scripture for my service is Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV): "It is He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors, some to be teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

Current testimony: Being a child of God has given me an inner peace that has centered me through many difficult circumstances. I still have issues that take me off balance but the inner peace that comes only from God keeps me grounded and upright. I know that what ever valleys I must walk through that God is there with me and as the poem 'Footprints' states, He carries me when I can no longer walk. One of the scriptures I have clung to is found in I Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation (my paraphrase - trial) has siezed you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted (my paraphrase - tested) beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted (tested), he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
